Warwickshire Police were left embarrassed this week after spelling Shipston and Wellesbourne wrong on the side of one of its new mobile police station vans.
The new mobile police station was unveiled by the force on twitter, but officers may now be regretting not having double checked the design on its side.
In the design Shipston is spelt as Shipstone and Wellesbourne has become Wellsbourne.
The hi-tech van features on board WiFi, a flat screen TV and its own 240v power supply.
FRIENDS who met at a local football club are cycling 400 miles across four countries for an ex-teammate who has cancer.
Sam Canty, Joe Weston and Matt Wells — three of Matt Bates’ close mates — are riding from Central Ajax Football Club, in Warwick, to Ajax Amsterdam Football Club, in the Netherlands, after the 26-year-old was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of kidney cancer.
The ride — dubbed Ajax To Ajax — will begin on Easter Monday, 28th March, after a football match at the Hampton Road club and ends six days later at Ajax’s Dutch League game with Zwolle.
THE third annual Shakespeare Week was launched in a live digital broadcast by children’s television presenter Baroness Floella Benjamin, at the Shakespeare Centre, in Stratford-upon-Avon, this afternoon (Monday).
It was estimated by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust that 1.5 million pupils across the country were reached, in the hour-long broadcast entitled Walking with Will.
It was filmed live in front of 120 pupils from St Andrew’s Primary School, in Shottery, Stratford Primary School, in Broad Street, St Gregory’s Catholic Primary School and Alveston Primary School.
THERE were several top class local entries in this year’s Crufts including Fabien Chidonna At Efterpi a long coat Chihuahua owned by Mrs Sharon Baker of Hockley Heath which won best of breed. The overall winner at this year’s show held at the NEC in Birmingham was Devon the West Highland Terrier whom beat 22,000 other dogs to be named Best In Show. There were over 30 winning local entries in this year’s show. A full list of whom will appear in this Thursday’s Stratford Herald.
